Samurai
Title: Samurai
Client: The British Museum
Location: London, UK
Timescale: November 2024 - February 2026
This temporary exhibition tells the story of the evolution of the Samurai, from their beginning as warriors in the 1100s, through the peaceful period of the samurai as an elite social class, to the modern media and pop culture still taking inspiration from the samurai to this day.
The exhibition commences with a visually impactful introductory space - I worked on developing the concept design for this space to create an optical effect using scale and layering to frame the first piece of samurai armour.
My input on this project began with the development of model assets in concept design, moving into the creation of case dressing layouts and technical detailing during developed and technical design stages. Much of my work on this project has involved creating and updating schedules for organising and tracking information on cases, case layouts, exhibition setworks, finishes, and case inserts.
